Helen Lloyd
Helen Lloyd trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the late 1960s and spent the first fifteen years of her career ‘treading the boards’ in theatres across the UK, playing roles ranging from The Wicked Witch of the West to Miss Julie, from Eliza Doolittle to the heroine in ‘The Mousetrap’ (Helen was in year 29 … it is still running!)
Helen joined ITV Midlands as a presenter and continuity announcer in the early 1980s and began recording voiceovers and her first audiobooks. Moving sideways into production she eventually became a documentary producer for ITV regional and as well as producing programmes ranging from Waterworld with Timothy West to Countrywise with Paul Heiney, she also narrated over fifty broadcast documentaries. Following redundancy, Helen re-invented herself once more – returning to her roots as a performer. Since 2013 she has narrated over fifty audiobooks – and she now spends her working life shut in a small padded room talking to herself often recording remotely from her personal studio with publishers and producers in the US and Australia as well as in the UK. Helen relishes the challenge that each new audiobook brings and enjoys narrating across all genres.
